Just over 350 people launched themselves from the bridge and on this occasion we had 35 local and National charities represented. The event should raise in excess of £50,000 and pushes the total raised from this great event to over half million pounds. As always we would like to thank the local authority, HMS Calliope and the Port of Tyne for their ongoing support.

Event News 2012

It has been almost 5 months since we zipped Bear Grylls from the Tyne Bridge and updated our news section on the website. However we have plenty of news to tell you about now that our busy period is over!

We normally enjoy a quieter period over the summer to prepare for our second half of the event season during Sept/Oct, however this summer we delivered 2 weeks of zipping at Wembley Stadium. The zip was part of the Wembley Tour and provided Wembley visitors with a unique experience, a video can be seen on the home page. During the 2 weeks we zipped just short of 3000 people!

On return from our 2 weeks at Wembley, it was straight into our Sept/Oct season which saw a great selection of events, and hundreds of participants zipping at iconic locations to raise money for their chosen charities. Including: The Galpharm Stadium, Braehead Xscape, Ipswich Town FC, Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge, The Kia Oval, Imperial War Museum North, Sunderland FC across River Wear and finally the Tyne Bridge.

Now that 2012 is almost over, we would like to say thank-you to all those participants and charities who have been involved with our events and raised money for great causes whilst challenging themselves on some of the most unique zips across the country. We hope to see you again in 2013!

Bear Grylls Olympic Torch Zip!

On 15th June Bear Grylls zipped from the top of the Tyne Bridge with the Olympic Torch as part of the Newcastle/Gateshead torch relay and celebrations. The zip was 50m high and over 400m long and ZSUK was called upon to provide the event. The torch was tested at a secret location to make sure it remained lit and as you will see in the videos below, it did!

These busy few days were followed by an equally busy weekend, zipping 400 people from the Tyne Bridge during our annual open event and 150 girl guides at the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester as part of their ‘Up High’ campaign.
